Construction Engineering Principles

Date & Duration : 2 Days

Purpose

Purpose of this course is to develop skills in the construction engineers working on project sites, to make them capable of delivering their project successfully, both technically and financially. To achieve this purpose, this course is aimed at enhancing their knowledge and skills in different aspects of construction engineering, which has direct impact on effectiveness in quality of project delivery.
This course is also aimed at covering different working techniques to make them more efficient construction engineers, which will enhance the contribution of construction engineers towards KEC, for successful and profitable construction project implementation.

Objective

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to

  • Define payment units of different items,
  • make unit conversions,
  • make fair predictions of lengths, heights and distances without actual measurements,
  • correctly interpret item descriptions,
  • prepare bar bending schedules,
  • prepare BOQ,
  • measure work and prepare bills,
  • check sub-contractors’ work,
  • identify deviation from scope and identify extra items.

Who should Attend

Diploma and Graduate Civil Engineers (from 2 to 10 years of experience) of construction team working on Project sites. Engineers working in testing labs, Billing Section, Quality Control / Assurance departments.

Instructor

Mr. Deepak Gokhale

During his professional career spanning over 36 years the faculty worked in companies like Tata Consulting Engineers and Kirloskar Consultants Ltd. He worked as overall head of a team of about 160 engineers of different disciplines like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical engineering and Architecture, working on various ‘concept to commissioning’ projects. Under his leadership, his office has done total plant engineering of automobile manufacturing mega projects, auto ancillaries manufacturing projects, farm equipment manufacturing projects, infrastructure projects, food industries projects, Tyre manufacturing projects.

Working as Discipline Head, he was overall in charge and was responsible for all technical deliverables issued by his profit centre and for providing technical solutions. His work also involved development and training of engineers working in his office. He was responsible for preparing Skill Matrix, identifying and providing technical training to his staff. The faculty has worked as Project Manager (as single point responsibility) on major automobile manufacturing project of Fiat India Automobile Limited, spread on 235 acres of land, at Ranjangaon, near Pune, India. He was responsible for entire plant engineering (concept to commissioning) including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical systems and Architecture. He was also responsible for Project Management and Construction / Installation Supervision of entire project facilities.

The faculty has rare combination of expertise in designing and implementation of big projects.
